GRANDE RONDE RIVER: Trout, whitefish, smallmouth bass, steelhead, coho salmon
Fall rains have stabilized flows although they still remain low. With cooler weather bass are starting to move out of the Grande Ronde River, but trout can readily be caught.
Fishing for steelhead opened on Sept. 1, however, most steelhead bound for the Grande Ronde River are still making their way up the Columbia and Snake Rivers. Steelhead fishing will probably be slow until more fish arrive later in October. The same is true for coho salmon. However, returns of coho are low this year, and we don't anticipate a large return to the Grande Ronde. Last updated 9/24/26.
