Animas River

Oof, that was a little rough for a minute. Lots of ice, with no snow in Durango. Well here is to hoping for some snow this next week.
In the meantime, the Animas is fishing pretty fricken good. Nymphing is of course, the name of the game, but the slow streamer bite is also a thing. Slow, as in, fish your streamer slow and deepor fish it fast do what you want. Its fishing and you should be having fun doing it.
Speaking of fun, fishing with a trout spey rod is fun, and we think its fun on the Animas.

Nymphs: Pheasant tails 18-22, Hydropsyche Caddis nymph 14-16. Killer May 10-24, Juans Jedi Master 20, Juju Baetis 18-20, Disco Midge 18-20, Rainbow Warrior 18-22, Pats Rubberlegs 8-12, Cravens Poison Tung, Blue Copper John 16-18, Flash Midge Pupa 18-22.
Egg patterns: Mcflyfoam Eggs, Eggstacy Eggs, Gregs Eggs, etc. Cream yellow are good colors
Streamers: Sculpinator, Sculpzilla, Meat Whistle, Mini Dungeons, Sculpin Changers, Karl Malone.
